As interior designers in the Cotswolds, spring is one of our favourite seasons for reassessing how a home looks and feels. As the days lengthen and natural light returns, spring offers the perfect opportunity to refresh our interiors. It’s a season defined by renewal, lighter colours, fresher air and an instinctive desire to reconnect with our surroundings. Rather than undertaking major change, we use this time for subtle, thoughtful adjustments. These small shifts can reinvigorate the home and engage the senses.

Fresh Colour Palettes
Spring blossom provides a wonderfully uplifting reference point for colour. Soft greens, gentle pinks and fresh whites instantly bring a sense of lightness to an interior. Floral arrangements are an easy way to introduce these tones, whether through classic blooms such as hydrangeas, orchids, ranunculus and peonies, or more unexpected choices.
Don’t be afraid to think beyond flowers. A sculptural bowl of purple and green artichokes, a glass vase filled with Sicilian lemons, or a basket brimming with collard greens and cabbages can be just as visually striking. These natural elements introduce colour, texture and vitality, all without permanence.
Energising Aromas
Scent plays a powerful role in how we experience a space, yet designers often overlook it. Fresh flowers naturally bring fragrance into the home, but candles are an equally important layer in creating atmosphere.
We always keep a selection to hand. A favourite is Miller Harris, whose scents have a beautifully evocative quality. We are also drawn to L’Objet for their contemporary numbered candles, Cire Trudon for their iconic metallic seals, and Diptyque for their handmade earthenware vessels.

The Ambience of Sound
With warmer weather comes the chance to throw open the windows once more, welcoming fresh air and the return of birdsong, sounds often muted by modern glazing during the winter months. Sound has a profound effect on how a space feels, and designers should not underestimate its role in interior design.
Music can be used to shape mood just as effectively as lighting or colour. Whether creating a calm backdrop or an energising atmosphere, a considered sound setup enhances everyday living.
Where possible, we recommend integrated sound systems, but there are also excellent portable options that combine flexibility with strong design credentials.
